Who is Bashir?
Bashir Hazzem is a blogger who got involved with a student protest in the southern Moroccan town of Tarjijit, which he then posted about on his blog. On December 7, Bashir, along with several student protestors, and Internet cafe owner Abdullah Boukhou, were arrested for their involvement, and set to be tried in neighboring Guelmim on Monday, December 14.

Bashir was first arrested on December 7, 2009, then on December 14, was sentenced to 4 months in prison. Abdullah Boukhou was sentenced to 1 year in prison. The others received six month sentences.
